Web 3 domains known as decentralized domains operate on decentralized networks such as Ethereum, rather than traditional centralized domain registrars. These domains are typically acquired and managed using digital assets, and they allow for decentralized and censorship-resistant websites. The Infrastructure Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA) contained two provisions: the IRS (6045) has provided guidance stating that crypto is considered property for tax purposes, and therefore is subject to capital gain taxes when sold for a profit. The rule encompasses web 3 domains which are brought and sold utilizing digital assets. The approach in how web 3 domains transactions will be taxed is anticipated within 118th bicameral Congress
