- Advocated for House members to support bills to bolster childrens access to mental health services including: The Childrens Mental Health Infrastructure Act of 2021 (H.R. 4943) which would provide $2 billion a year for five years for grants to childrens hospitals for increasing their capacity to provide pediatric mental health services as well as The Helping Kids Cope Act of 2021 (H.R. 4944) which would provide $500 million a year for five years to support grants to childrens hospitals and other providers to support pediatric behavioral health care integration and coordination. The bill would also provide $100 million annually for five years for grants to childrens hospitals and other providers to support workforce training for a range of pediatric behavioral health professionals. Also advocated for members to support H.R. 7236, the Strengthen Kids Mental Health Now Act.
- Advocated for support for S. 4472, the Health Care Capacity for Pediatric Mental Health Act, which would create three new grant programs to strengthen the pediatric health care workforces capacity to deliver developmentally appropriate mental health care, expand the availability of a full continuum of pediatric mental health services in communities across the country and increase support for critical mental health infrastructure at childrens hospitals.
- Worked with the Children's Hospital Association to develop a letter on the VALID Act to Senate HELP Committee leadership that highlights the implications of the bill and asks the committee to address those concerns before advancing the Senate FDA user fee package legislation that includes the VALID Act. Because the bill would modify the regulatory framework for laboratory developed tests, the VALID Act could have serious unintended consequences for childrens health and childrens hospitals.
