Michigan Farm Bureau(MFB) continues to express concerns with the EPA's efforts to expand the definition of Waters of the United States under the Clean Water Act. Michigan Farm Bureau supported H.R. 5078 Waters of the U.S. Regulatory Overreach Protection Act. The bill prohibits the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers from developing, finalizing, adoption implementing, applying, administering or enforcing the administrations proposed WOTUS rule. MFB is calling for the complete withdrawal of the rule, Docket ID: EPA-HQ-OW-2011-0880. MFB has met with the House, Senate, and EPA.

Michigan Farm Bureau is advocating for comprehensive immigration reform that adjusts the status of those currently undocumented that are working in agriculture, allowing them to work in agriculture, and secondly creates a usable guest worker visa program run by the USDA that allows for at-will or contract workers for agriculture.

Michigan Farm Bureau is supporting H.R. 5213, the Simplifying Technical Aspects Regarding Seasonality (STARS) Act of 2014. The bill creates a single definition for seasonal workers and streamlines the way that employers determine if they are Applicable Large Employers. Michigan Farm Bureau is advocating for the bill because it reduces the administrative burden for seasonal employers and helps them to avoid hefty ACA penalties.
