Support the FCC reaffirming that states and localities cannot and should not impose additional franchise fees on broadband services beyond the 5% maximum already charged for cable services because the broadband service is provided over the same networks, so the 5% rights-of-way fee has already been charged
Oppose the FCC s proposals to modify or eliminate the Local Radio Ownership Rule, the Local Television Ownership Rule, and the Dual Network Rule (collectively the Media Ownership Rules). The Media Ownership Rules serve the public interest in assuring an accurate, diverse, and independent media and are the last bulwark against already abysmally low ownership diversity rates.

Any reauthorization of the Higher Education act (HEA) must: ensure that students have a clear and straightforward path to complete loan discharges when the school they attended has been engaged in widespread misconduct, including misrepresentation or fraud; allow for the gainful employment regulation to be maintained and fully implemented; maintain the existing protections of the 90-10 rule and should restore the 85-15 threshold while closing the Department of Defense /Veterans Affairs loophole; Prohibit abusive sales tactics by colleges; and minimizes waste, fraud and abuse in higher education, as well as protects students, their families and the taxpaying public from predatory colleges
Oppose the Department of Educations proposed changes to the disclosure template requirements set out in the Gainful Employment rule as it will deprive students and taxpayers of valuable information that is easily understood, is comparable across institutions, and that has already undergone rigorous consumer testing

This bill would create a $40 million grant program for local districts and schools to improve the participatiThe final guidance interpreting the Opportunities and Responsibilities for State and Local Report Cards under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 should 1) require that all data included in the report cards be disaggregated by student group; 2) provide clearer guidance on how to report per-pupil expenditures; 3) ensure that report cards are uniformly formatted and accessible to families and communities; and 4) reinsert information (from previous guidance proposal) that clarifies ESSA requirements and best practices for supporting educational equity.on of girls and underrepresented minorities in STEM fields.
Support S. 1338 / HR 2563 , the Ban the Box for Higher Education Act, which would remove barriers to higher education for individuals with criminal or juvenile justice histories
Support S. 1337 / HR 2353 ,the Promoting Reentry Through Education in Prisons (PREP) Act. The legislation would authorize and fund the prison education reforms started by the Obama Administration, as well as expand on those reforms to ensure equitable access to education programs across all as federal prisons. The bill would also provide resources to state departments of corrections as those agencies expand prison education opportunities, and it would address eligible incarcerated veterans access to education benefits.
