- Arranged and participated in a briefing of the House and Senate health staffers from Missouri districts regarding the use of state provider taxes to fund state Medicaid programs
- Participated in a telephone conference convened by regional CMS officials to discuss CMS issues pertaining to state hospital associations
- Responded to two requests from congressional staffers regarding attendance at the 2011 Missouri Hospital Association Annual Convention and Trade Show
- Responded to a congressional request to discuss potential committee assignments
- Distributed information to the Missouri congressional delegation regarding proposed and enacted Medicare and Medicaid payment cuts affecting hospitals in response to the Special Committee on Deficit Reduction created by the Budget Control Act of 2011
- Discussed with regional CMS staff the number and distribution of critical access hospitals within the CMS region
- Encouraged CMS to work with the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality to promote clear standards governing the confidentiality of data disclosed to a federally-designated patient safety center under the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005

- Discussed with regional CMS officials their strategies for promoting participation in a Medicare demonstration project to create Accountable Care Organizations, as authorized by the Patient Protection and Accountable Care Act of 2010
- Responded to queries from Missouri congressional staff regarding states use of provider taxes to fund their Medicare programs, as was being discussed by the Special Committee on Deficit Reduction created by the Budget Control Act of 2011
- Promoted endorsement by selected members of the Missouri congressional delegation of a Dear Colleague letter being circulated in the House of Representatives regarding potential cuts to Medicare payment of critical access hospitals by the Special Committee on Deficit Reduction created by the Budget Control Act of 2011
- Contacted the Missouri congressional delegation regarding a Dear Colleague letter being circulated in the House of Representatives regarding potential cuts to Medicare payment of rehabilitation hospitals by the Special Committee on Deficit Reduction created by the Budget Control Act of 2011
- Corresponded with CMS regional office staff in response to their query regarding distribution of new information about the process for hospitals and other providers to submit complaints to the CMS regional office
- Distributed information to the Missouri congressional delegation regarding an economic analysis of the effects of pending federal legislative proposals to restrict states use of provider taxes to fund their Medicaid programs
