Support capping all interest rates at 36% APR. Support a strong, responsive Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Support a study of the regulation of interchange fees but oppose a delay in the implementation of the Durbin amendment to Dodd-Frank.
Reform the mortgage servicers industry so that more loans are modified and fewer homes are foreclosed upon. Try to stop abusive credit card practices. Support allowing bankruptcy judges to require loan modifications on primary residence mortgages. Oppose exploitative payday lending. Support efforts to eliminate predatory lending. Support the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its endangerment finding that is required under Clean Air Act that greenhouse gases in the atmosphere may reasonably be anticipated both to endanger public health and to endanger public welfare. Urged President Obama to veto any legislation that weakens the Clean Air Act.

Create a stable supply of qualified and effective educators for all communities; do not weaken the definition of a "hghly qualified teacher". Oppose cuts to education, pre-school through college, in education funds on HR 1 / HR 1437. Oppose efforts to reducde or eliminate the Education Jobs fund. Support the School Improvement Grant program.
Oppose allowing militaryfamilies with children with special needs to use school vouchers. Support S. 919, the Successful, Safe, and Healthy Students Act of 2011. Support a strict yet flexible policy for bullying. suupport research and education for educators to help them identify and deal with bullying.
Support for the elimination of the War on Drugs and other criminal justice policies which have resulted in the overincarceration of Americans, with prison costs skyrocketing and not enough being spent on education.
