Supported the CHAMPVA Childrens Protection Act (H.R. 288/S. 325). This legislation increases from 23 to 26 the maximum age of eligibility for certain dependent children of veterans for medical care under CHAMPVA (the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs).
Oppose the Chained CPI which lowers social security benefits significantly over time and support the Chained CPI-E (Experimental Price Index for the Elderly) to calculate SSI and SSDI to ensure people with disabilities continue to have the critical income support they need to cover essential needs such as food, medicine and shelter. Support HR
649/S.308 - Protecting and Preserving Social Security Act of 2013and S.567 - Strengthening Social Security Act of 2013.
Oppose reducing or eliminating concurrent unemployment insurance/disability insurance benefits as a partial pay-for for legislation to extend unemployment benfits as part of the budget discussions that ended in mid-January.
Oppose the policy to not provide SSN print outs and benefit verification statements at SSA field offices.

Supported H.R. 2527 which expands access to counseling and treatment for sexual trauma that occurred while a service member was on inactive duty for training status.

Supported H.R. 4234, the Ensuring Veterans Resiliency Act. This legislation would encourage psychiatrists to dedicate their careers to serving our veterans by authorizing a select number of full-time hires to be offered loan repayment incentives commensurate with other federal entities.

Proposed amendments to the Workforce Investment Act related to the provision of vocational rehab programs for people with disabilities.
Advocated for adding federal contractor employees with disabilities to the President's Executive Order regarding the hourly minimum wage increase of $10.10.
Support Fair Minimum Wage Act, S. 460 . The bill would raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 by 2016. The bill would also adjust the minimum wage each year to keep pace with the rising cost of living and raise wages for tipped workers.
