Amdt. No. 873: Estate Tax - NETWORK opposes further reduction of the Estate Tax. NETWORK supports keeping the Estate Tax at the 2009 level, making it permanent while indexing for inflation.
H.Con.Res. 85/S.Con.Res 13: FY 2010 Budget - NETWORK urges economic opportunity for all, investing in child nutrition programs, comprehensive healthcare reform and the highest possible discretionary spending caps for human needs
FY 2010 Budget - support the priorities of: health care reform, education and clean energy; and more equitable, progressive taxation.
H.R.2007: Truth in Lending - NETWORK supports legislation which prevents certain unfair practices by credit card issuers, and for other purposes.
Appropriatins - NETWORK urges Congress to shift money from Defense to Human Needs. There is considerable documentation of waste in the military budgets.
Lincoln-Kyl amendment on the estate tax - NETWORK sent thanks to members of the Senate for opposing this.

immigration cases, and opposes the fighting of "culture wars" in the context of immigration.
S. 729/H.R. 1751: Dream Act - NETWORK strongly supports passage of the Dream Act.
Comprehensive Immigration Reform - NETWORK supports comprehensie immigration reform: humane enforcement, preserving family unity and a process toward citizenship, and addressing the root causes (in trade practices) of migration.
NETWORK supports policies and rules which would protect people from from immigration enforcement during an emergency situation.

Healthy Families Act - NETWORK strongly supports this bill, which will allow workers to earn up to 8 days of paid sick leave in a year for person illness, family illness, rape and family violence.
S.934/H.R.1324 Child Nutrition Promotion and School Lunch Protection Act - NETWORK strongly supports this, in order to prevent child obesity and the related illnesses which are escalating.
H.R. 2339:Family Income to Respond to Significant Transitions (FIRST) Act - NETWORK strongly supports this bill.
S. 683/ H.R. 1670: Community Choice Act - NETWORK strongly supports this legislation which will be supportive to those with long term ills, but will be economically beneficial to the family and to society
"Expanding Health Care Coverage: Proposals to Provide Affordable Coverage to All Americans - NETWORK praised many aspects of this paper, but expressed areas of concern: expanding Medicaid for low-income people, benefits packages for low- and moderate-income families, caps, ... which seem to be weak or missing. These are necessary to support families most in need.
Comprehensibe Healthcare Reform - NETWORK strongly supports legislation which will hold those most oppressed and in need as the highest priority in coverage, out-of-pocket costs, premiums, etc.

H.R. 3068: To use amounts made available under the Troubled Assets Relief Program of the Secretary of the Treasury for relief for homeowners and neighborhoods.
Appropriations, HUD: - NETWORK supports inclusion of an additional 200,000 housing vouchers per year over the next ten years.
Affordable Housing - NETWORK supports a broadening of thinking of "housing" to substantially include affordable rental opportunities
Gulf Coast Civic Works Act (H.R. 4048 in 110th Congress) - NETWORK strongly supports the reintroduction and passage of this bill to not only provide housing (which is affordable and "green"), but to provide the means of return to the Gulf Coast area of those with the least resources and who lost the most in recent Hurricanes.
ARRA - NETWORK worked for reconsideration of the prohibition against use of ARRA funding from being applied to Tax Credit Exchange Program in the Gulf Coast for development of affordable units.
H.R.1728: Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending - NETWORK praised the bill, but pushed against the Perlmutter bill which mandated that foreclosed properties be vacated in 30 days, when purchased by another party - when the occupier is a renter.
FEMA Trailer Program in the Gulf Coast - NETWORK worked to get housing vouchers to families and individuals living the the toxic trailers, proposing that they be given priority in the distribution of vouchers.

H.R.2454: American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACESA) - NETWORK commends to Congress for improvements such as targeting jobs to low-income areas.

Revenue sources for Healthcare Reform and for other human needs - NETWORK supports use of revenue from outside healthcare to support healthcare reform. It supports a surtax on income above $1million/year.

Re-authorization of Child Nutrition Programs - NETWORK supports a re-authorization which strengthens (additional funding) the programs, enhances nutrition quality, simplifies program administration and makes the program more accessible.
S.714: NETWORK encourages that the Commission investigate the impact of restrictions on social services to ex-offenders,
including: exclusions from SNAP (Food Stamps), TANF assistance, HUD assistance.
Appropriations, FY2010: NETWORK supports significant increases to the LIHEAP program.

NAFTA/CAFTA and other free-trade agreements- NETWORK opposes the bases of current free-trade agreements and calls for a

Coup in Honduras - NETWORK opposes the violence and human rights violations taking place in Honduras.
S.229/H.R.2214: Afghan Women Empowerment Act - NETWORK strongly supports the empowerment of women through our promoting education and jobs.
U.S. relations with Mexico - NETWORK strongly believes in cooperation between the U.S. and Mexico to combat drug and crime violence. We hold that the U.S. must work to reduce the desire for drugs in this nation and to stop the flow of weapons to Mexico from our corporations through third hand handlers. We have a responsibility to support programs to strengthen the rule of law in Mexico and support alternative development programs.
