Discussed Cemson's FY10 appropriations with staff including a cyberinstitute and cyberinfrastructure activities, vet institute, textile research, advanced materials research, and cellulosic biofuel pilot plant. Additionally, discussed the proposed student loan transition from FFEL to Direct Loan as part of the FY10 budget. Clemson is currently under the FFEL and the transition to Direct Loan would be costly and time consuming to the University. Clemson worked with APLU to add Senator Graham to a letter of support for
funding for the DOE Office of Science and a letter of support from Congressman Spratt for general Agriculture research support.
