Support for the inclusion of higher education priorities in the budget and budget reconciliation efforts (H.R.5376 - Build Back Better Act, and similar Senate efforts) including efforts to expand the Pell Grant and increase the federal award amount, an expansion of the definitions within the Americas College Promise Act (S.1396 and H.R.2861) both within the reconciliation bill and at introduction, support for additional funding for federal research, research infrastructure, and deferred maintenance, and the College Completion Fund. Continued support for including additional higher education funding, student mental health and academic success priorities, testing, vaccine efforts, and contact tracing in COVID-19 stimulus efforts including the American Rescue Plan. Support for implementation of the UW Systems best practices as it relates to testing and tracing on college campuses and statewide vaccination efforts. Support for the UW System's 2021 Federal Priorities including increased funding for: the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the National Phrenology Network, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Estuarine Research Reserve, the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Capacity Building Grants for Non-Land Grant Colleges of Agriculture, and the Pell Grant Program, including allowing "DREAMers" to have access to the Pell Grant. Support for federal financial aid programs including: the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, TRIO, GEAR UP, and the Pell Grant Program. Support for efforts to fund broadband access and additional cybersecurity research and development. Support for water sciences research and the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin. Support for a Great Lakes research vessel, Small Business Development Center, and the Center for Economic Development via the FY22 appropriations process. Support of the US Innovation and Competition Act/Endless Frontier Act.
