Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations for federal diabetes research and prevention programs. As Congress begins the process of drafting and debating FY22 appropriations bills, the Association organized virtual Connected to Congress meetings with Members and staff to discuss funding priorities.
The Associations Health Equity Now initiative. The Association supports equitable access to a cure for diabetes through research, high-quality health care, diabetes drugs and management tools, healthy food and strong communities.

H.R.1319, The American Rescue Plan Act. A COVID-19 relief bill that was signed into law, providing for nutrition benefits, financial assistance for health insurance coverage, and funding for COVID-19 testing and vaccine distribution in medically underserved communities.

H.R. 7062, Affordable Insulin for the COVID-19 Emergency Act. A bill that eliminates copays for insulin in Medicare Part D during the COVID-19 national emergency period.

H.R.4550, Minority Diabetes Initiative Act.

Issues worked on not yet reflected in legislation:

The Associations Health Equity Now initiative. The Association supports equitable access to a cure for diabetes through research, high-quality health care, diabetes drugs and management tools, healthy food and strong communities.
The Associations Technology Access Project. The Association supports equitable access to critical diabetes management devices and supplies, such as continuous glucose monitors.
The cost of prescription drugs. The Association supports a number of approaches to reducing the cost of prescription drugs such as insulin-particularly through pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reform.
Federal nutrition programs. The Association supports improvements to existing federal nutrition programs and access to nutrition education and healthy food, especially for individuals at higher risk of developing prediabetes or diabetes.
