Support additional federal funding for USDA-run food programs, including the Women Infants and Children program (WIC) and food stamps and oppose funding reductions to these programs. Support allowing ex-offenders to apply for and receive federal food stamps. Fight childhood hunger and obesity. Work to eliminate "food deserts" in low-income neighborhoods, support the establishment of farmers markets and other means of fresh fruits and vegetables in urban areas. Reform the mortgage servicers industry so that more loans are modified and fewer homes are foreclosed upon. Try to stop abusive credit card practices. Support allowing bankruptcy judges to require loan modifications on primary residence mortgages. Oppose exploitative payday lending. Support efforts to eliminate predatory lending. Support a comprehensive approach to housing finance reform that will further the federal governments housing policy objectives of promoting residential integration, eliminating housing discrimination, and providing safe, decent, and affordable housing for all.
Oppose delaying regulations limiting fees charged to merchants by issuers of debit cards.
Support a flexible and inclusive definition of "larger participants" by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (participated in a CFPB roundtable discussion on the issue).
Express grave concerns about the promulgation of the Dodd-Frank Credit Score disclosure requirement.
Oppose potential employers reviewing a potential employee's credit report or credit score prior to making a hiring decision. Support HR 321
Support strong action by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in protecting consumers from abusive checking account policies.
Support allowing consumers to transfer banking accounts to a different institution with little or no monetary repercussion. Support HR 3077.
Support Richard Cordray as Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
Support significantly strengthening the Office of the Comptroller of the Currencys (OCC) proposed guidance on overdraft programs and deposit advance products in such a way that all customers receive the lowest cost credit for which they qualify, and national banks are encouraged to offer responsible overdraft and credit products.
Support a study of the regulation of interchange fees but oppose a delay in the implementation of the Durbin amendment to Dodd-Frank.
Support a strong settlement to the legal actions under discussion, and one that leaves open the path for further needed actions to hold lawbreakers accountable in the matter of the states Attorneys General and the Federal Government versus various financial institutions for breaking the law in terms of mortgages.
Supported the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) take strong steps to stop checking account abuses. Specifically, we asked that the CFPB:
Require information on important checking account terms to be disclosed in a one-page Consumer Choice Box;
Require complete disclosure of all overdraft options;
Require reasonable and proportional overdraft fees;
Require the posting of deposits and withdrawals in a neutral manner; and
Examine the prevalence of dispute resolution clauses in checking account agreements and the existence of fee shifting provisions that require the account holder to pay at least a portion of the banks costs when a dispute occurs.
Support a two-month extension of the comment period to allow the Federal Reserve Board to hold a formal hearing and public meetings in at least five cities about Capital Ones proposed acquisition of Bank Nevada, N.A.

Support the U.S. Department of Justice fulfilling its obligations under Title V of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 to deny preclearance to South Carolina and Texas as they attempt to implement so called Voter Identification laws passed by those two states earlier this year.

Support ensuring full and comprehensive deployment of broadband technology to all American communities that is affordable, accessible, attainable and sustainable. Support expanding USDA loan program for increased broadband deployment in rural areas. Support merger between AT & T and T-Mobile.
Support not capping the Lifeline program at $1.2 Billion.
Support expanding the Lifeline program immediately to broadband, enabling low-income participants to purchase broadband services with their monthly subsidy.
Support reallocating some portion of the $1 billion projected cost savings from the high cost fund to the Lifeline fund for low income people.
Support the development of a pilot programs that will address other reasons besides cost that low-income people do not adopt broadband. Dedicate $50 million to these pilots and be ready to implement new programs based on those pilots by 2013.
Support an Open Internet and oppose S. J. Res 6.
Support the Federal Communications Commission making diversity a central focus of its upcoming Quadrennial Media Ownership Rule Review and evaluating the impact of the media ownership rules on ownership opportunities for women and people of color.

Support Environmental Justice. Support including African Americans and other racial and ethnic minority Americans in Green Job creation. Support the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its endangerment finding that is required under Clean Air Act that greenhouse gases in the atmosphere may reasonably be anticipated both to endanger public health and to endanger public welfare. Urged President Obama to veto any legislation that weakens the Clean Air Act.
Ensure that the US Environmental Protection Agency is allowed to proceed regulating its initial finding that greenhouse gases qualify as dangerous pollutants under the Clean Air Act. Oppose HR 910.
