United Spinal Association/VetsFirst supports The Advanced Safe Testing at Residence Telehealth (A-START) Act of 2021.
Increase Funding for Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems - House/Senate. Discussed the need for SCIMS increased funding and next steps with Director Anjali Forber-Pratt, Dir., NIDILRR.
United Spinal Association raised concerns: regarding accessibility of COVID-19 tests; MA and Part D programs, notice of benefit and payment parameters; support CMS access to dental surgical services, support the DMEPOS Relief Act (H.R. 6641); share concerns re the CMS ACA Exchange Rule; support the Health Data Use and Privacy Commission Act (S. 3620); shared concerns with CMS regarding access to DME in times of public health emergency.

United Spinal advocacy and policy staff participated shared concerns around access in a quarterly call with Amtrak along with other representatives from disability organizations.
United Spinal supports the Disability Access to Transportation Act (H.R. 1697/S. 2038), and the Air Carrier Access Amendments Act (H.R. 1696/S. 642).
United Spinal continued partnering with May Mobility and other partners on a project for further consideration with the U.S. Department of Transportations Inclusive Design Challenge to create more accessibility for people with disabilities as well as everyone else, particularly in utilizing new technologies with automated vehicles and related infrastructure.

United Spinal raised concerns about access to healthcare with HHS OCR and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
United Spinal advocacy and policy staff helped to organize and participated in a listening session with representatives from the U.S. Department of Justices Civil Rights Division on issues of importance to the disability community, including enforcement of the Olmstead decision, web accessibility, medical discrimination, the 988 hotline, discrimination against students, AI discrimination, voting, guardianship issues, and coordination with other agencies.
