S. 301. "A bill to amend title 49 USC to make technical and minor modifications to the Positive Train Control(PTC) requirements under chapter 201." Supported. Also advocated reasonable implementation deadlines and allowing alternative risk strategies.
Sec. 8401, Positive Train Control provisions, in H.R. 7,"Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2012." Continue to advocate.
Surface Transportation Board's (STB) proceedings on "competitive issues"(EP 705) and petition (EP 711) of National Industrial Traffic League (NITL) on "competitive switching." Monitored and opposed changes in existing rules. Also monitored and raised issues and concerns regarding the unbalanced nature of STB proposal (EP 699) to encourage mediation and arbitration.
No Bill. Urged eliminating intermediate brake test where wheel temperature detectors are used and extending intervals for locomotive inspections. Also discussed ways the Federal Railroad Administration and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's work sharing impact safety.
